Between sciatica and the back sprain, I need to strengthen my back stat or the next 3 months are going to be very difficult. Daddy brought me home a few weeks of guest passes for his gym. They offer a water class that is safe for pregnant women and allows me to strengthen my back without putting too much pressure on it.
I tried the class early (emphasis on early) this morning before work. I’ve never done a water class so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was feeling a little self-conscious because I haven’t worked out much since getting pregnant…oh and i’m about 7 months pregnant and since this isn’t a prenatal class was pretty sure that the odds were I was going to be the only pregnant one in the class. I got to the pool and i’m pretty sure I was right. I’m pretty sure no one else was pregnant because Guinness wasn’t on site recording the world record – I was the youngest one in the class by about 30-40 years. I don’t know why, but I wasn’t expecting that.
I’ve been to a lot of exercise classes but this has to be the most memorable one. Before class got started each person gave me their own piece of cynical advice – “the class is great, if you don’t pay attention to the fact that the teacher is always 1-2 minutes late” or “try not to stand by her, she always gets in others space” or “The pool thermometer reads 85 but I brought my own in and it said 84.” Wow. Wow. Wow.
All in all, it was a really decent work-out. I felt strengthened and energized. Well, the latter feeling lasted until about 6 and spiraled quickly from there. After this class, a full work day, your brother’s evening swim lesson, dinner and bedtime routine for your brother, i’ll be lucky if I make it to 9:00.
I think i’ll try the class again. I wouldn’t say I left with “friends” but I left with a lot of babysitting offers…I think for you and not the other way around.
